About Me
Hi, I’m Vesal—a machine-learning researcher and entrepreneur specialising in deep-learning computer vision for autonomous and connected vehicles. From September 2024 to September 2025, I founded AutoAware AI and translated driver-safety computer-vision research into deployable, privacy-conscious edge-AI systems, taking the technology from research to a working product. During the same period, I taught the graduate Applied Machine Learning course to MS and PhD students at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Iran. Prior to this, I was a post-doctoral researcher in the Electrical Engineering Department at Sharif University of Technology in Iran. Earlier, I earned a PhD in Civil Engineering (Intelligent Infrastructure Engineering) from Iowa State University in Ames, IA, USA, supervised by Prof. Anuj Sharma.
